Guided tours

Amsterdam's famous canal ring looks timeless and romantic, but it was one of the most calculated pieces of real-estate engineering ever built. This walk reads the water, brick, and gables as the output of a single audacious plan.

7 stops, about 3.8 km on foot, 1h40 at an easy pace. The route starts at Westerkerk and the Westertoren and ends at Reguliersgracht and the seven-bridges view.

It is fully self-guided: no group, no guide to keep up with, and no need to arrive at a set time. Start whenever you like, pause for as long as you want, and pick it up again where you left off. Narrated stop by stop in English, in your phone's browser, with a live GPS map of the route.
